Care of furniture upholstery fabrics in Trevira
Cover fabrics - for instance for chairs - are a flagship for many areas. Yet places where people sit a lot show many marks and stains. Upholstery fabrics in Trevira CS are quite easy to keep clean.
A stain remover applied in the area of the soiling is adequate for small stains.
Where the staining is larger and in general severe the whole piece of material should be cleaned:

- Brush or suction machines are less recommended (shampoo residues may have a negative effect on the burn behaviour of the material)
- Ensure the cover fabric is adequately dried
- Avoid applying heat when drying
Detachable covers may be dry-cleaned.
It is possible to wash under light conditions at 60°C where stated by the fabric manufacturer (e.g. on the sewn-in label).
Disinfection
- If required, (in hospitals for instance), spraying is possible using current disinfectants (e.g. on aldehyde basis).
- It is also possible to disinfect with steam.

Pressure points
- The nap and pile can be restored using steam (e.g. a steam iron), but on no account should the fabric surface be touched.
Shading
- Velours can show shading; a purely optical effect
- Simple brushing is sufficient
Static electricity
- May occur where there is low humidity (when heating is on in winter)
- If it is not possible to increase humidity, spraying with a solution of 2 g/l common salt is recommended
Pilling and/or greyness
- May result from severe mechanical wear
- Treat material with electric shaver (open cutting system) or with special plastic brushes designed for the purpose
