Stain key

Basically stains are best removed while they are still fresh and have not penetrated into the fibres. Dried-in marks have to be treated with a stain remover. The stain key (Pdf, 31 KB) gives details on what is possible and on the procedures.
The following general points apply:
- Never rub hard
- Rub gently with a clean absorbent cloth from the outside to the centre of the stain
- With small marks gentle treatment with a damp brush or sponge is sufficient
- When using a damp sponge or brush the material should only be moistened, never made wet
- When using stain removers the manufacturer's instructions should be noted to understand the effect on the under-fabric and the upholstery filling
- Stain removal applied in the area of the marking is only useful with small stains
- Cleaning of the complete material is recommended with larger or more general soiling
