Trevira CS at MoOD Brussels 2011

September 2011

Heading for growth with new owners
Eighteen months following establishment of the new Trevira sale of the company has been concluded in July, when the new owners, Indorama Ventures PCL and Sinterama S.p.a, completed takeover of the manufacturer of polyester fibres from Bobingen/Germany.
“We are pleased that closing finished successfully“, said Anke Vollenbröker, Head of Marketing, in September at MoOD in Brussels. “ Our new owners are in the sector; they are familiar with the polyester business and market environment we operate in.” Trevira was now on a firm financial footing and, in addition, the new constellation offered synergies to grow the business further. This would be achieved by increasing the proportion of specialties – including the Trevira CS business – and by a global expansion of activities.
Conceptual discussions with the owners were proceeding at present on the future direction of the fibre and filament businesses. “A principle to be noted is that Trevira remains essentially an independent business after the change of ownership, continuing to offer the usual full range of polyester products, spun fibres and filaments, from POY to textured yarns and warp beams, greige and dyed.”

Business in the first half year
The first months of 2011 have been marked by strong demand, on the one hand due to catch-up effects from the previous year and an economic climate for this year that is basically positive. Another factor have been the substitutional effects caused by turbulence in the cotton market. This hype clearly weakened before the summer break, and has by and large settled down now. At present the textile pipeline is still well filled, for the moment living on current stocks. Uncertainty of manufacturers with regard to the development of fibre and yarn prices is tending to have a braking effect, but should abate in the light of slightly increasing quotations for raw materials over recent weeks. For the rest of 2011 Trevira was, therefore, anticipating a normalisation of the market situation, with business at the level of sales volumes planned.
In the year to date turnover of Trevira CS products has been on the whole slightly above forecast. The focal points of operations in flame retardant fibres and yarns are Germany and Italy. One pleasing development to be noted is in applications for interior sun screening, where a whole series of new collections has appeared on the market. A special catalogue presenting suppliers of Trevira CS sun protection systems is due in September and will be sent to some 10,000 architects and interior designers around the world.

Fabric for ideas: Trevira CS collections at MoOD
Of the 248 exhibitors at MoOD around a quarter are once again suppliers of Trevira CS collections for the contract market, which is concentrated in Hall 9. In this area the Fair organisers, in conjunction with their long-standing industrial partner Trevira, are presenting the Contract Square, where visitors can learn among other things about current new products in Trevira CS from manufacturers.
At its stand, situated directly adjacent to Contract Square, the fibre manufacturer is supplying information on flame retardant fibres for contract materials and services associated with Trevira CS. With its slogan Fabric for Ideas the premium brand has a fresh, youthful and progressive appearance.
For this year’s event Trevira is placing the emphasis on textiles for the sectors covering hotel, office/public spaces, transport and entertainment. They are displayed in four distinct colour worlds, with warm red shades for hotel & hospitality, restrained grey and keynote colours for public buildings, shades of blue as the basis for transport and finally gold, rich red and dark violet tones for the stadium, theatre, cinema and concert hall.
